What is the difference between Gulf side and Lagoon Side?

The retreat is two identical sides Gulf and Lagoon. Both have a total of 4 bunkrooms, 2 staff rooms, 1 commercial kitchen and dinning hall, pool, deck, volleyball, and basketball courts. The only difference is the Gulf side faces the Gulf and Lagoon side faces the street.

Should I book one side or the entire facility?

One side sleeps 76 people; if your group will be more than 75 people we suggest renting both sides of the facility.

Do I share my kitchen with the other group?

No, each side of the facility has its own kitchen and dining hall.

What do I get when I rent a side of the facility?

You get 4 bunkrooms, 2 staff rooms, your own commercial kitchen and dining hall, your own pool, volleyball and basketball court, and access to the meeting room

What is your meeting room like?

We have a 1600 sq. ft. meeting room. It comes with chairs to seat your group. There is a dividing wall that can be put up for you to have your own half of the meeting space or you and the group staying on the other side can share the entire meeting space as a chapel. That is between you and the other group. If you rent the entire facility you have the entire meeting room.

How do I reserve my time for the meeting room?

The retreat will provide you with the information of the trip leader for the opposite side and it is up to the two leaders to decide on meeting room time. The first person to book gets first choice on times. We have never had a problem with any group being able to work out meeting room times.

Does the condo come with my rental?

No, we have one condo available to rent but it is a separate rental than the per person price.  It is a first come first serve on booking the condo. See rates page for pricing.

Does the retreat cook for my group?

No. Most groups choose to bring their own cooks and prepare meals for their groups. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to do the cooking for your group. We also have a list of local caterers in the area that will come to the retreat and prepare food for you. (See vendors page) Please see accommodations page for a list of what is in the kitchen.

Is there a Sam’s or Cosco in the area?

The closest Sam’s club is 1hr away. We do have an account with Wood Frutticher (like sysco) that will deliver bulk food items to the retreat for your group. Please ask Avery for those details

Is the retreat directly on the beach?

We are located across the street form the beach. The retreat has a deeded access to the beach. See picks on accommodations page

Are there shops within walking distance?

There are souvenir shops, gift shops, restaurants, and ice-cream shops all within walking distance from the retreat.

How safe is the retreat?

The retreat is a private facility.  We limit our patrons to church and school groups only. Your side of the retreat is completely private to you and your group. It is a very controlled environment that the public does not have access to, unlike a condo. Your group will be the only group with access to your pool and recreation area.  You will also know who the group staying on the opposite side is and the leader information from that group.

Is Gulf Shores safe?

The city of Gulf Shores is a family destination and strives to remain that way. Most all of our groups are very comfortable letting their students walk to the shops nearby and to and from the beach.

Will I have to interact with the other group on the opposite side?

You can have as little or as much to do with the other group and their students as you decide.  The way the facility is structured you never have to interact with the other group unless you want to. Most groups love to have a volleyball match against each other at least once.
